Telkom Blacklisting and handing over for debt collection despite contract cancellation!!!

On the 25th of February 2019 I contacted Telkom requesting that my data contract be cancelled. I was called by a Telkom representative a few days later to confirm that I requested the cancellation and I was asked whether I did not want to get someone else to take over the contract and I said no, I explained that I no longer needed the contract as I was going to upgrade my mom’s fixed line to ADSL and will be using that. I asked them to load the cancellation for the 1st of April 2019. I received the reference number ***4 on email from *** confirming that my service was to be cancelled. In May I realised that the service was not cancelled and I was still being billed and I started my long journey of having it cancelled for good and the charges reversed. Note that I was the one who initiated the contacted Telkom continuously! I called their call centre and tweeted non-stop for them to resolve the issue. The last communication to them was on the 29th of May 2019 where I stipulated that I will not pay the amount they said was outstanding because they chose to not to process my cancellation request. Telkom handing my account over for collection when I in fact cancelled the contract in February 2019. I had subsequent issues with getting the contract cancelled eventually and I lodged a dispute with Telkom to reverse the costs. They never did and subsequently had me blacklisted and handed over without any notification or warning. My husband received sms’s stating that I have to call a debt collector, who subsequently advised me that I was handed over that my costs were now R1371.06 and that I was blacklisted. I have lodged a complaint with Telkom to have my name cleared and this mess sorted out. The case number provided was ***3. I had paid Telkom in advance on the 25th of February 2019 I paid them R773 and then in March I paid them R350. When I called them in October they conveniently couldn’t locate the reference number they gave me the 1st time round and insisted that I only cancelled at the end of May 2019. When I asked the lady how the billing was able to be stopped immediately if I supposedly was supposed to give 30 days’ notice she could not answer me. I cannot see how I was blacklisted and handed over for debt collection for Telkom's mess up. They also didn’t issue me with an invoice for the final amount nor did they try and contact me at all regarding this. By lodging the dispute they assured me that they would resolve the issue, and reverse the payment (this was never done). Then the debt collector advised me that Telkom told them that I am liable for the account despite me providing them with a case number ,this while Telkom advised me that it would take 72 hours to resolve and they couldn't provide me with feedback when I called before the 72 hours. Today I had to contact Telkom again (a month later ) to find out what the progress is because to date NO FEEDBACK was provided by Telkom. I have now paid legal fees and accounts to lying debt collectors to the value of R1371.06 (***). I have a new reference number ***3 from Telkom as of 28 November 2019. I am tired of the incompetence experienced throughout this entire process and the lack of follow through by Telkom employees. I was promised to be called back by numerous staff members, escalations to non-existing managers (they still have not returned ANY of my calls). Telkom needs to seriously relook at their organisation structure. You are paying too many people to do nothing. The following Telkom staff members have NOT called back despite all sorts of promises: Nqobile Tusimi Nompumelelo Bonolo Bengiwe - reports to Size Mkhize
