Telkom blacklisted me, now I can’t get vehicle finance

I cancelled all my Telkom services on the 4th of October 2017, the request for cancellation was e-mailed & faxed to them. I received an e-mail from Telkom confirming that they received my documents and that they would process it. A month goes by and as clock work, my landline ADSL & Internet account was disconnected. I never received any account after the 4th of October 2017, so I assumed that all was good. A year goes by and suddenly I started receiving phone calls form Telkom Accounts department threatening to hand me over for an overdue account. Many consultants later and even a manager of the department & sending proof to them that I had cancelled the service in October of 2017, they said that they will rectify the account and get back to me. Well this never happened, April 2019 they handed me over to a debit collection agency, who constantly harassed me for a 1 week. I then got my Attorney involved, he sent one letter to both Telkom & the debit collection agency threatening to take legal action. On the 9th of May 2019 - I received an invoice via e-mail from Telkom accounts department, showing a ZERO balance. My attorney then sent a letter to the debit collection agency requesting them to de-list me from the credit bureau, as I was still listed. I app**** for vehicle finance last week and was declined because of my so-called Telkom account being listed!

I contacted Telkom 27th October 2020, spoke to one of the agents working in accounts, who said to me that they will put a note on the system and refer the matter to their de-listing department. The process according to the consultant could take up to 14 working days.

So thank you Telkom for your incompetence & messing up my application for finance! Now I have to wait until Telkom gets their de-listing process done on my account.
