Telkom billing me for a service they cannot provide!

I hate doing this, but it's the only way to get these useless government run businesses to do anything!

Anyway, I requested a line in May of last year. A month later, they had cancelled the request because they thought I didn't want it anymore. (What?)

So I log another request for a line. In November of last year (yes, 6 months later) a technician pitches up to do the installation. He does it and I can finally have faster internet.

Only I can't. The line doesn't work. So I log a support request.

Two weeks later another technician pitches up. He says that what I've got is a voice line, even though I clearly told the lady handling my application that I wanted an internet line, but wanted to go through a different ISP.

This technician said all I had to do was phone the help line and ask them to change it, and that I'd then be able to use my service.

Nope! They presented me another set of hoops to jump through so that I could pay them for a service!!!

So I immediately cancelled the line, because I just cant deal with service that bad.

A lady called me to try to get me not to cancel. I went through with it and told her that I am not paying them a cent. She said the billing department would contact me in regards to payment.

A month later and still nothing. Plus now I'm getting messages that I owe them.

Last time Telkom billed me for stuff I didn't use was when I cancelled with them in 2014, and they're at it again! I eventually paid them that time (after years of bullying me). Not this time. This time, should it continue, we'll be having a court day.

Seriously guys, don't use Telkom. They're arguably the worst service based company in the world - certainly the worst I've ever seen.

As a comparison - I activated an Afrihost account to use with my Telkom line. The debit order for Afrihost went off and I informed them that I could not use my service. They refunded me in full - no problems at all.

If a private company rivalling Telkom could open it's doors, Telkom would be out of business in a matter of weeks.

And to everyone who hasn't had problems with Telkom - count your blessings! You're one of very, very few.

For the Telkom guy reading this who will attempt and probably fail to help out, it's not your fault. You're just trying to do your job and I respect that.

Didn't even bother to respond. Wow, that's a new low - even for Telkom! I guess I'll be seeing them in court.
