Telkom Billing, Debit Order issues, They Charge double your subscription fees. It's a ****!!
My name is Nomsa Zulu. I took a contract with Telkom for 80 gb monthly data service for R209 per month.
The method of payment is via debit order on the 5th of every month. Telkom intentionally fails to debit my account on the said date even though there is money in my account it doesn't get debited and the debit order is still active on my bank account.
After failing to debit their money, they send me an Sms telling me my debit order was rejected and that I should make EFT payment to prevent service interruptions.
Mind you, you have to pay the rejection fees each time your debit order is not collected. The rejection fees is an amount equal to your subscription fee.
I find myself paying double what I am supposed to pay because of this rejection fees. As of date. I have rejection fees of R411 because of the debit order issue.
The first time they failed to collect their money, I paid it via EFT and settled the rejection fees. I kept calling their customer service line to enquire whether my debit order is still active and they confirmed it is still active.
I went to Telkom Store in Hatfield Plaza Pretoria and asked to cancel the Debit order because telkom fails to collect their money occasionally and that causes me to incur rejection fees. They told me that they can't cancel the debit order because a lot of people owe Telkom, so they are not allowed to cancel debit orders.
Morever their EFT payments takes about 10 days to reflect, so if you want to make payment via EFT you have to do so 10 days before your billing date to keep your account up to date, failing which you will have to pay double what you are supposed to pay.
Telkom is a "quick make me rich scheme" they couldn't explain to me why they failed to collect their debit orders for some months.
I don't recommend telkom to anyone.
