Telkom Billing Customers After Contract Cancellation

I had a Telkom mobile contract for 36 months under the numbers ***, which I cancelled on 19 August 2025, as the contract term was due for cancellation. The customer care consultant assisted me and deactivated both SIM cards immediately. However, I was then informed that Telkom would still bill me at the end of August and again at the end of September.

This is highly unfair and confusing, as the contract had already run its full term and I no longer have access to the service. Continuing to charge a customer beyond the contractual period amounts to billing for a service that is not being provided, which is both misleading and unacceptable.

As per the Consumer Protection Act (CPA), customers are entitled to clear, fair, and transparent terms, especially when it comes to cancellations and billing. It is my understanding that once a contract has run its full term and services are deactivated, billing should immediately stop. Continuing to invoice customers after cancellation can be seen as non-compliance with fair consumer practices.

I strongly urge Telkom to review its billing and cancellation procedures to avoid unfair treatment of customers. I also encourage potential customers to carefully review Telkom’s contract terms before committing, as my experience has been both disappointing and financially unfair.
