Telkom Bad Business Principles to Sole Proprietors with Covid-19 Situation

Today 22/07/20202 @ 17:24 i called Telkom and i got this unwelcoming tone from a customer representative...anyway i st my story clear to him that im aware m contract ends this current year 2020 and asked to confirm of which he did after a long silence till i asked if hes till on the line...yes on the 2nd of Dec.

I then put my situation down that as a sole proprietor im battling with my debts and im trying to settled them while i still can...i asked he check my outstanding balance to pay and close the contract since i know i don't owe or in arrears with Telkom... He said my Balance would be R2 995 since i pay R699 Monthly but id be penalised R800 for admin plus another R699 again of which i should pay R4 494.

Things went out of control when i asked why would i be penalisecwhen im trying to do the right thing by coming forward to pay and end the contract, since covid has affected my finances due to lack of jobs, he said i should submit a letter from my employer, i then reminded him im a sole proprietor and even when taking the contract its there as a self employed customer. He then said nothing is been app**** for people like me i took the contract knowing i will have to pay my bills ( very rude) coming to think i never said i want to end to contract without paying.

Telkom is there to milk people out irrespective of the current situation whereas other sectors are coming forward to work with its customers knowingly Covid is affecting us all. Im terrified by Telkom actions . Never will recommend this brand nor do any business again with them
