Telkom are *****s

For a Telkom ADSL line it works like this. First those ********* force you to install a telephone line at a monthly cost even though you don’t use it. Then you have to rent the ADSL line and then you have to buy a data package. Of course they charge you a month in advance for these services. This meaning that If you pay in January it is for the services for February. Now if you want to cancel these services there is a 21 working day (one month) waiting period. In my case I cancelled on 19 September. I also cut the ADSL line myself on the 19’th. I got confirmation on 20 September and this meant that I already payed for October. Of course taking the one month notice period into account that meant that on the 20 of October me and Telkom were done with each other.

Turns out not. Telkom insists that I pay them for November as well. Even after more than a few calls and a dispute. They insist I pay the notice period and then one month after that for absolutely no reason. Well they did give me R43 discount after the dispute but I still won’t pay them for November unless someone at Telkom can explain to me why I must pay them for November and I agree with them.

This is not rocket science. Don’t trust them. Don’t sign a debit order else they can just take money as they please.
