Telkom aka Hellkom

My wife & I sold our home in the Germiston area at the end of May 2016. Since the new owners did not seem keen to take over the Telkom service we visited the Telkom Shop at Eastgate Bedfordview on 25 May 2016 to arrange for the telephone and adsl service to be terminated. It was arranged that the service would be suspended on Monday 30 May, with final cancellation on 26 June 2016, when the final account would be issued. We moved to our new home in Kempton Park on 30 May 2016.We visited Telkom again on 31 May to finalize cancellation of the service and to provide them with our new e-address. Our new email address was necessary as our previous one was a telkomsa.net thing that goes with the cancellation of the service. Our problems with Telkom began on 19 August when an sms was received stating that an amount of R1528.00 was outstanding and was to be paid within 24 hours to avoid cancellation of the service and legal action. The contact person was Salo Chetty on tel. ********** 255. Another sms arrived 23 August with the identical details. On two occasions I attempted to contact the number given and it was never answered. In addition there was no answering device or any form of human life at the end, only ringing. Once again we visited The Telkom shop on 30 August and entered a Dispute Ref: ********** 1 in an effort to resolve the matter. On 30 May another sms arrived stating that the Telkom records reflect our email address as ********** net indicating that they (Telkom) had never altered their records in line with the new address provided to their agents at Eastgate. Further, the sms stated that I must contact 10210 and verify this? The final nail in the coffin came with yet another sms on 22 September stating that our Dispute had been rejected, reasons not given. Ironically it turns out the the service was only cancelled on 26 August, effectively 3 months after the due date. My thoughts are that Telkom must explain why the service was not cancelled on the due date and then establish who ran up a bill of R1528.00 whilst the service was suspended. Perhaps their exchange can explain?
