Telkom...adsl line down for more than a month

On 5th June 2017 our ADSL stopped working and we logged a call using third party telephone line.

Status to date:

1. No telephone

2. No Internet connection

3. No alarm security response and an alarm system that is continuously going into fault mode due to no land line connection to the alarm security service.

Telkom's response to date:

1. Sent technician to check connection from inside house to outside line...which is fine

2. Same technician informed us that cable needs to be checked.

3. Sent a bill with no reference of fault logging

4. No feedback on progress

5. Offered a 2GB integrated Internet connection for an uncapped Internet connection as compensation. (this did not last very long on a household that uses 2GB/day)

6. Intergrated connection only got activated after three days, because Oeps, they forgot to activate it

Our action:

1. Phoned Telkom once a week on progress at expense of our airtime ( we only received one call after three weeks to inform us that we are now on an emergency list)

2. Asked for extra Internet data, but according to Telkom policy they only give a once off free compensation related to speed of the line, irrespective that it is an uncapped contract.

3. Being patient

4. Buying prepaid Vodacom data in able to access our email and banking

Our knowledge to date:

1. cable is broken..or is it ******?

2. Telkom is waiting on cable spares..or was it space?

3. Every week we are being placed as priority..in relation to what other priorities?

4. Last contact we had that our call has been logged as an emergency....we still have no connection...so obvious we are no emergency.

5. Accounts department are not aware that we have no telephone connection....sorry for the inconvenience, but we must pay our bill. Telkom will reimburse when the problem has been fixed....uh, yes?

This is a classic case that Telkom does not give a f... about the individual. Why bother whith home connections, they cost money to maintain!

Seems they only concentrate on the big corporations, that is where their big revenue comes from.

It is very sad, that when we miss out on not paying our bill on time, our connection gets cut, but when Telkom does not provide their side of service it is a : " sorry for the inconvenience, but please keep on paying, otherwise we will be forced to disconnect you" ...
