Telkom ADSL Hostage
My phone and internet has been down since the 04/10/2019. On the 06/10/2019, I logged a fault with Telkom with Ref ***5 for internet and ***6 for voice. On the 08/10/2019 Telkom sends a message that "due to repeated cable incidents in my area they would offer an alternative solution". The message is clearly auto generated and generic, as this statement is completely untrue. I have had a Telkom line for almost 5 years and there has never been cable incidents in our area. The only problem that I have had was when I picked up that Telkom themselves was consistently switching my ADSL speed down on my line every few months. I discovered this when I cancelled only my DATA with Telkom and moved to another ISP for DATA and found that I could achieve maximum speed at all times on my line with no issues. But no that my line has completely stopped working, I am being forced to cancel my ADSL by Telkom as they are also in no rush to repair the service. I am yet to here anything about this alternative solution, as instead of contacting me, they keep on phoning my wife, who gave them my number twice. So I went ahead and put in a request to cancel although that is really not what I want to do and trying to replace ADSL with LTE & FLLA is not logical, unless those services mirror the value that people are getting from ADSL. The only logical replacement for ADSL is Fibre, but at curent trend it could be 10-20 years before Fibre is a reality in all of Cape Town. I hope that I can get a fair and clear answer on what is happening with the outage in my area after this negative review.
