Telkom account debacle. Telkom, where is your service ethic?

18 September 2018 I received notification from Telkom that my account had been suspended. The very next day (19 September 2018) I contacted Telkom via 10210 and asked the consultant I eventually spoke to to cancel my account and send me a final statement so I could start settling the account.

15 January 2019, For the first time since I canceled the account, I received an invoice from Telkom stating that I owe them R4'428.18 on my account. At most I should have owed them around R900.00.

21 January 2019, I went to the Telkom Shop at Cresta to sort out this crazy invoice. I was told their system was down.

23 January 2019, I returned to the Telkom Shop at Cresta and I was told that the account hadn't been cancelled as I asked for it to be four months previously. It had only been "suspended".

So, for four months, Telkom has been charging me for: a) a service I cancelled on 19 September 2018; b) a service that Telkom did NOT actually supply; c) a service I did NOT receive.

I was told to lodge a dispute with Telkom. The lady at the Telkom Shop told me that she would log a call with their acounts department and that the Telkom accounts department would call me back on my cell within 15-20 minutes. That was more than a week ago and I am still waiting for my call. I have no more Telkom products (and I will never again have any Telkom products) so I can't call them on the number 10210 or 081180. I have also tried twice to log a query on the Telkom website, to no avail.

This is the reason why I have cancelled all Telkom products. The lack of service and the all-round apathy of the staff at the Telkom shops and at the call centre is astonishing. Telkom has not concept of customer retention and they have lost a customer for life
