Telkom - absurd account subscription and once off charges
How is is possible that my bank charges me R100 for an unpaid debit order and Telkom can justify charging me me an additional R200+ for the same unpaid debit order ?
When I queried this with Telkom , I was told it uses a services provider and as a customer I am liable for charges if the debit order is returned. I agree that is it my responsibility to ensure there are sufficient funds etc. but where in the T&C's state that this rate for an unpaid debit order is 2 times the normal bank rate ?
Surely it is ********* for a company not to disclose the unpaid debit order rate (Rand Value or Percentage).
The application form states : Should any debit order be returned unpaid on the due date, Telkom and/or its authorised debt collection agencies will have the right to make use of NAEDO to collect the arrears amount. These collections will be at your cost.
These last two months I have incurred charges with Telkom to the amount of R432.76 (Account subscription and once off charges).
Considering that my Telkom account is usually R605 per month and how much the standard bank rate is, I don't feel that the account subscription and once off charges is justified.
I look forward to receiving constructive feedback from Telkom.
