Telkom a bunch of *******

In March 2016 I went to Telkom Mobile to take out a new contract on a Tablet that I was intrested in. I went to the store after work and completed the application forms. I was told that it would take a couple of days to do a credit check. I waited for a week and had to go back to the store to find out what is going on, as they never ever answer the telephone, so calling is a waste of time. When i got to the store, I spoke to the manager (Stephen Nel). He confirmed that the credit check was done and all in order. He went to the store room to get my Tablet. At the counter I inspected the Tablet and noticed that it was the wrong model. I pointed it out to him and he went back in the store room to get the correct model. I signed all the documents and left. At home when I started using the Tablet I realised that the specs on the Tablet was different to what was advertised on the Telkom Mobile website and the magazine in the store. The next day I went back to the store and returned the Tablet and cancelled the contract as this was not what was advertised. Stephen Nel sent an email stating that the contract will be cancelled. A couple of weeks later I received an email from Khanyisile Maphanga from Telkom informing me that the contract was indeed cancelled and that they will waive the one-time penalty fees. It was mentioned that because I used some data I will be charege for what I used. In April 2016 an amount of R119 was deducted from my bank. Then on May 2016 an amount of R1730-67 was deducted from my bank. I went back to Telkom Mobile at Clearwater Mall to speak to Stephen Nel. He informed me that it was a mistake on the part of Telkom and investigated why the money was deducted. I was told that it was because he failed to send another request through to make sure my contract was cancelled. He logged another case and spoke to a lady who confirmed that the money would be paid back into my account in 5-7 working days. I was not happy with this and instructed Stephen that I want my money paid back before the end of the day. Stephen phoned me at 18:00 on 16 May 2016 and told me that the money was reversed and would be in my account in two days. It is now more than a week later and my money has not been paid back to me. I am going to initiate legal action against Telkom, as they stole money from my account without my permission or authorisation. One of the most pathetic organisations I have ever had any dealings with. Client service does not exist so there is nowhere one can actually log an official complaint. This is typical of how things are going in South Africa. I would STRONGLY advise that nobody do business with these *******, especially this store. It seems like they work on Africa time there as they never show any urgency to assist customers in the store. This might be due to the absolute lack of leadership from Stephen Nel, and I am sure his lack of customer service and assistance has rubbed off on the pathetic staff
