I got a call from Mobile Talk (Telkom) mid April with a special for a Wi-Fi router and 15GB for R149pm. During the call the person who called me said he checked the coverage of Telkom network at my house and at my work and gave me a guarantee that there is Telkom network at both my work and home, and I shouldn't have any issues. I was initially reluctant to take on their offer but eventually I agreed. On the 26th of April my Wi-Fi router was delivered. On the 29 April a debit of R149 went through from Mobile talk. End of May I did not get any invoice from Telkom. Then a debit of R298 went through from Telkom this time. On the 17th of June another debit of R149 went through from Mobile talk. I then decided to call Telkom. Before calling Telkom I also realized that I couldn't surf the internet using my router as it was saying I'm out of airtime. I was convinced that I have not yet used up the allocated 5GB that comes with my contract. I then called Telkom on the 19th of June to find out what is happening with my data and the lots of debit that keeps on going through my account. I was then told that I'm actually roaming as I was using the out of bundle data and that my account had a spend limit of R500 that I have used up for May and June. My first thought was that I was never out of the country how can I be roaming. I was then told that whenever the Telkom network is not strong or is unavailable I roam on MTN network. I then requested my statement, first I noticed that the address on the statement was wrong, and secondly I noticed that I already owe R649 due to the R500 spend limit. I asked why am I roaming because when I took the contract I was never told that I might roam and that when I roam I will be using out of bundles data. Telkom then opened a case for me, case number ********** 8 and told me that I will get feedback within 72 working hours. Working hours are 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. Meaning that I will actually get feedback in 9 days. I called Telkom again on the 26th of June to follow up. I was told that the case is in progress and feedback will be given since the 72 hours has not yet lapsed. I then asked about the debits, I was then given another case number ********** 0 to investigate the debits. I am still waiting to be contacted with both case numbers. I made another call to Telkom on the 05/07/2017 to follow up on cases. And still no feedback, when I asked the lady assisting me why is Telkom treating its customers like this, she was quite. I asked her who should I talk with, somebody who will have answers; unfortunately she told me that I cannot speak to anyone. I then sent a complaint via Facebook to Telkom on the 5th of July 2017. I got a response that their team will look into the matter. I made another follow up on the 26th of July, still I was promised that they are looking into the matter. I made another follow up on the 3rd of August and I was told that they are looking into the matter. In the mean time they provide no feedback and keep on debiting my account while I cannot use the service that I’m currently paying for. Clearly, this is not what I was sold and this is definitely not what I bought. I cannot keep on paying for services that I cannot use.
