Telkom 21 000 possible loss
To whom it may concern.
I would like to stress the urgency regarding the following issue. I have been a Telkom customer for over 3 years. Last year April my contract was due for an upgrade dispite not wanting to upgrade a sales representative called me and in May I upgraded my contact for monthly data for a total of R250 per month for 5 GB day time data and 5 GB night time data. In November I decided to cancel my contract as this was not worth it. I went into the office and the consultant advised me to pay R2110. Which I did. I then was under the impression that the account was closed. Furthermore I updated all my details as I was changing jobs and would relocate which meant new email address ND new home address. Last month I went to purchase a car when I went to collect my car I was told that I could not get the car because of an outstanding bill with telkom to my surprise this contract was canceled. Desperate I called the call center 081 180 and they advised me that the contract was never canceled bare in mind that telkom did not call once for a payment no sms no personal email nothing. I then desperately trying to just close the contract was told that I needed to pay R2759 I did that on the 14th of September 2017. To date this payment was never updated nor received. I have spoken to a total of 12 consultants and 2 team leaders who was unable to assist. I paid a R21 000 deposit on the car and if the finance is not updated as in yesterday I will lose the 21 000 deposit. The team leaders advised that there is nothing they can do about it as they don't have contact details for the billing department and that the managers are gone home. Every day since the 10th of September I have been on 40 minutes long phone calls over a 2 week period for a settlement letter. The first 5 consultants who I have taken their names down did not create a case for the dispute that I was experiencing when I went into the store on Saturday the 15th of September the sales representative said a case needed to be logged and this was never done he then proceeded to do so and scanned my proof of payments. The next 5 consultants who I spoke to in the corse of this week did not inform me that the scanned documents were not attached to the case. The last person who I spoke to for 2 hours on the 19th of September who is the team leader said that the documents were not on the case. She then said I must wait for a further 72 hours which is the same escalation period as the case created in Saturday and they were due to give me feedback today. Nothing was received the account is still outstanding. This was logged with the National consumer regulator and the ombudsman furthermore they did not show any urgency. I am about to lose my deposit on my Car as well as have the car go back on the market for a contract which to my knowledge was canceled. No urgency showed by any of the workers at telkom. They said there is nothing that they can do and I must wait. I did not get any services from telkom yet they listed me on ITC as a bad payer yet they did not even contact me once for payment. Team leaders were supposed to call me back and did not do so. Consultants was supposed to refer to team leaders and after various attempts to do so they finally did. Team leaders are refusing to let managers get Involved. No details is provided.
