Telkom

Have ADSL, but no connection at all, for some time now. Went to Telkom agent in Riverside Mall to "migrate" to 20 20 LTE, but am informed that they are not allowed to migrate any account. Tried to phone, line terrible, said lines down, and as I am 76 I also battle to hear on the phone anyway. ( The only good thing was that he insisted on giving me a chair wherever I sat.) - Hence my need for an agent to do for me. - Told I must phone for this. Secondly, went to query the "Subscription" charges on another line, a business line. Said there was nothing I can do, as somebody agreed to the subscription on the phone, so cannot cancel. This is absolute nonsense. How can one agree to something without a written contract and legal signature thereon????? Where is customer security and rights???? Since when can they take an agreement of "Yes" on the phone for an advertising subscription. They tell me that they do not know what company it is for or who did it, so cannot tell me who to contact. If it is on my account, they have to pay the advertiser, so they must know who the payment is for??? I Have tried phoning, emails , you name it to cancel this advertising. Am only paying for the telephone account as I did not at any time agree to this. If anyone phones, I refuse anything and tell them to send me an email referring to it, and I will reply to that. This is also because I do not hear properly on the phone, and I want to actually physically sign for anything that I might agree to. My usual answer on receiving the email is definitely NO., unless of course I never got an email. There are so many companies that do this!!! So how can they charge me for unknown advertising? Especially when no one knows what on earth it is for!!!Never in the 35 years we have had this business have we ever agreed to any advertising, let alone nobody knows what it is for other than and Advertising subscription???. How can I find someone to cancel this? The only response that I have ever had , is a gentleman phoned and said my telephone account is in arrears, to which I agreed and said it was because I am only paying the actual telephone bill, and not the advertising as I have not ordered or agreed to it. He said he would get someone to phone, but six weeks later I am still waiting. What on earth can one do to cancel this????? To me this is just a **** for a company to increase their income.
