Tekom sells products they don't have

<p>I hold two contracts with Telkom. The first being a residential land line and the other is a mobile data contract. About 3 months ago, I learned about Telkom offering an Android Media Player that you get free with certain home internet package or you can choose to buy it outright or you can make arrangements to pay it off in instalments. I went to several Telkom stores and was told they were out of stock. I asked for them to let me know when they have stock, and was promised they will. After 3 months, no call from anybody. I called the stores at Fourways Mall, Nicolway Shopping Centre in Bryanston and Fourways Crossing. The first one told me they don't have stock, the second seemed to not know what I was talking about and the third don't answer their phone. Ever. I checked with online chat, they can't help me with a purchase, neither can Telkoms' sales department, neither can the people on the call-me-back facility, and the administrators of the Telkom Facebook page told me my only option is to go to the store and pick one up. If a store does not answer their phone or does not know what I am talking about, this means I've got to drive to the store every day to check if they have stock. According to the sales department, I can only buy the Media Player from them if I take out a contract for home internet. I already have home ADSL with another service provider. If Telkom offers me such terrible support when I don't have a contract with them, why would I commit to being locked in for 2 years with them? Telkom seems to habitually offer products they don't have stock of. It's the only company I've come across who goes to great lengths to not sell you one of their products. Considering the responses I've received so far from Telkom, I am expecting someone to read this review, call me and apologise but tell me that they cannot help me unless I go to a store and buy it from there. Nobody at Telkom can even tell me which store has stock of the media player. Unless Telkom can call me and offer to sell me the media player and deliver it, please don't bother contacting me about this review. I'm tired of the same old rhetoric from Telkom telling me to do what can't be done</p>
