Stop HALVING My Internet Speed

I was on the \Fast\" ADSL option with Telkom which offer download speeds up to 2Mb, HOWEVER my speed was CONTINUOUSLY LIMITED to 1Mb or 1024Kbps as indicated on my router.

After continuously reporting the limited speeds, Telkom fixing it, Telkom ENFORCING it again, reporting it again, etc. I upgrade my line speed to the \"Faster\" option as I work online and cannot afford to have such a terrible connection.

The line was upgraded 8 April 2016 and I was relieved to see a down speed of 350Kb~ish, which is fair for \"Up to 4MB\". Then, a few days later, my 4Mb connection is AGAIN LIMITED to 2.5Mb, or 2560Kbps as per my router.

I consider this a breach of our agreement, and I'm confidant the Consumer Protection Act agrees.

I want a solution and explanation to the speed limits you are consistently enforcing on my line and also for continuously ignoring my requests to replace or just ****** inspect the copper lines running from my home to the nearest box to fix anything that might be contributing to this problem.

I don't want to fight and I don't be a ******* about this - I just want what I am paying for.

If you can't deliver, then just be upfront about it."

This marks one whole week since I've sent the requested information to Telkom. My problem persists and I have received no communication regard what, if anything, is being done to address the problem. Even if Telkom is currently over capacity, I was not informed that they are currently experiencing high work volumes. I did however receive a call on Friday afternoon (two days ago) asking if my problem had been resolved. I responded that I had sent through the details the previous Sunday but I hadn't received any response yet. After the caller had identified which e-mail address I had sent the details too, they said "Oh, you sent it there. We'll have a look." I'm sure those aren't the exact words spoken, but they were quite similar. At this point I'm investigating other avenues for internet connectivity with the eye on terminating our landline and all associated services with Telkom as we are not able to receive the service we are paying for. It makes me want to laugh really, the absurdity of it all, to think I live in a country where I have to sell a property and move closer to the local exchange to get the full benefit of a service which I'm paying a few hundred ZAR a month for. How far are we gonna fall behind the rest of the world before we start catching up?

The end of week 4 and going strong. It was only this past Friday dated 13 May 2016 that a Telkom technician finally showed up to fix the problem. The technician did not contact me and did not understand what my problem was. So the ticket, opened only two weeks after my initial complaint, was closed and seen as completed without my problem being fixed. I want to know why Telkom's control system or whatever the hell they use enforces a speed of 380/2560 on my line when I am paying for 512/4096. Slow connection speeds does not influence the package's line speed as reflected on one's router so please stop looking there to solve my problem. I don't understand why I have to tell you (Telkom) that you are looking in the wrong place and incorrectly diagnosing my problem...? My plan with Axxess is Capped and Unshaped data bundle which enforces no speed limitations so don't bother pointing a finger at them. How do manage the entire country's telecommunication infrastructure if you are unable to troubleshoot a small problem like this? You're supposed to have trained, knowledgeable personel equipped to deal with these matters and then I'm not even talking about the expert engineers you guys are supposed to have on hand. How many more weeks are you going to keep me in this state of anger and unhappiness before just fixing the speed on your system and stopping it from auto-changing for whatever reason it keeps doing this? I expected to be credit 40 to 50% of what I'm paying every month for ADSL until this matter is resolved on the same basis that you credit days when services are completely unavailable.
