Still being billed for cancelled & expired Fixed Term Agreement

I am still getting billed for a Fixed Term Agreement CT*** which expired on 08/02/2020, even though I cancelled it well in advance.

I received a letter from Telkom dated 10/11/2019, to notify me of the expiry. Based on the contents of the letter, which advised me to give Telkom 20 business days' notice terminate the service in writing, I cancelled the agreement online on 13/12/2019. I did it then already, in anticipation of the December/January holidays that was coming up, and wanted to get my cancellation request in early to avoid any excuses by Telkom during the holidays. Please see attached screenshot of the confirmation email I received quoting case number ***. No one has contacted me to date.

We do not even live at that address anymore, we moved out at the end of November 2019. It is now the middle of July and I am still getting a monthly bill, and the money goes off my bank account every month.

I visited the Telkom store in Paarl Mall in January 2020, and asked them to please check on the system that my cancellation had been carried out. They confirmed that "you do not exist on the system at all anymore, it looks like your account was deleted, so you don't have to worry". But still the money kept going off my account.

I phoned Telkom on 12/03/2020, and received a new reference number: ***5, and the lady promised me high and low that it would all be fixed and reversed and credited back to me. Nothing has happened to date except that Telkom is continuing to take money from my account.

To date, R2,486.93 has been taken off my account, with another debit order due to go off on 31/07/2020 for R649.91, which brings it to a total of R3,136.84 that Telkom owes me.

After emailing *** on 15/07/2020 in an attempt to escalate the matter, I just got prompted to follow the same online steps AGAIN on 16/07/2020 and received yet ANOTHER reference number: ***.

This is going in circles and I am yet to be contacted by a human being who is willing and able to sort this out.

It is plain **************** and theft, is my only resolve to take them to small claims court?
