*****ING MONEY

In 2018 I went to Telkom in Bayside Mall, Table View (Cape Town) and was ready to purchase a laptop for personal use and working purposes. I was scared to make an online purchase because I was not my credit score would get approval. To my surprise, when I got to the store, the gentleman asked me which laptop I was interested it, he fetched the brand new model from the box and handed it over. Shortly after, we filled out all the paper work. EXCEPT he didn't ask salary slips, proof of income, credit checks or anything for that matter! When I lost my job 3 months after that, I stopped paying the account due to urgency to pay rent and food first from the tips I made waitering. They did not follow up to find out why my account went unpaid and a few months later I got a nasty email with a penalty of over R5000 added to my due account of about R10 000 for the device.

Due to that salesperson not doing his job properly and Telkom not finding out why my account has been unpaid or trying to make arrangements, I am sitting with debt of R13 000. This is now officially THREE YEARS LATER and they still did not resolve this issue. I now pay the bare minimum to keep them from taking legal action but the truth is that they bul**** me into this and I don't have the finances for this mistake they made.
