Stay clear of Telkom!!!!

I sincerely plead to you with tears in my eyes, do not buy or recieve any service from Telkom. Now I don't complain ever, but these people have pushed me to far. I seek out to install a 4 mg line with Telkom with there R 599 promo. Firstly they tell me they cannot come on a weekend to install the line, only during the week. They will let you know a day before when they will be coming and note that this is an all day appointment anytime between 08:00 and 16:00 . So they expect you within a days notice to take off work and then sit around the whole day waiting for when the technician decides to come.

So I fight this and argue, make special arrangements for my younger brother to be at my flat during the week, then guess what? The technician does not pitch without even an sms to say he is not coming. Call them after 16:00 and they say no one can help you now call back tomorrow. So I then get an arrangement for a technician to come in on Saturday after shouting and yelling, and yup you guessed it he does not pitch after I had specially taken off work that Saturday, nice hey? 3rd time was the charm and we got the line installed.

Bare with me this is a long story, so then I get my first bill which is dated from 10/07/2017 to end of August. Strange because I was told I only start getting billed once the line is installed? Which only happend on the 29th of August due to them being unable to keep to an appointment. Also please note everytime you call you will waste huge amounts of airtime holding for them and they will randomly drop the call on you and every department does not communicate with the other. So every time you call for a fault log the or to follow up the next person will have no idea what you are talking about and you will have to repeat your story again.

Then I get to the next point where the Internet is constantly under 2mgs never higher and always going offline . Strange cause I do have an up to 4 mg line right? well then I find out that the port had magically switched to a 2 mg line the lady from Telkom says well why don't you just downgrade to a 2mg line??? and I have now for 3 months been paying for a 2 mg line at a 4 mg line promo rate, nice hey? So I log a call with Telkom yet again and get told that a supervisor will contact me within 24 hours, that did not happen. And then when calling again the following day to find out why they did not call back or get back to me they say the reference number the lady gave me does not exist and they have to log a new fault?? So you have no way to trace back to Telkom employees how they treat you or the service they give. They will get away with giving you bad service.

I then get back to the billing issue while having this separate fight with the technical side, because they will charge you for things you did not sign up for. You will not recieve a statement or invoice, you must just presume how when and where to pay. And if you don't do that you will receive a late penalty fee. How convenient! So they reject my claim for no apparent reason for the over charge for when the line was installed forcing me to take screenshots and email them there smses they sent me of when the appointment date was finalised.

It has now been 3 weeks since the fault with the 2 mg line was reported, it's a Saturday I am at work my girlfriend is alone at home. She calls and tells me that a guy from Telkom is here to check the line. No sms to say we are coming on Saturday to check the line your wifi will be down. My girlfriend is writing an exam for bookkeeping on Monday and runs through tutorials on the Internet, which she can't do without wifi? Not to mention she is alone at home and we are not expecting anybody. So I've rushed from work I am now sitting in my lounge waiting for this Telkom guy to show his face so we can get wifi up and running and she can continue her studies.

Would a member from Telkom be happy with this kind of service anywhere else??

Would you? It's beyond pathetic and I will be cancelling immediately which I've seen on reviews is also not done and you are still charged even after cancelling. Take my advice and stay clear of Telkom
