Stay away from Telkom Mobile, it's dangerous.
I was hacked, afterwards after spending many hours in Telkom I noticed many out of the ordinary things.
The assistants keep hand written records of the sim numbers when asked why they said their manager needed to keep count of the Sims sold in a day. The problem with this is our numbers are used for banking and the sim card icei number can be cloned and hacked, in addition the assistants collect our Rika. This is extremely dangerous because of identity theft and ****s.
Then one day while paying for air time the assistant asked to see my bank card and I gave it to him because I was distracted, this again is problematic for many reasons, identity theft and ***** being two reasons, but no one in this day and age should hold your card ever!!!
As if that is not enough, when you use the telkom bot it give you the puk number, so if your phone is lost, this puk number can be gained by the ***** using your service provider bot ( without verification, which will give him/ her access to your phone contacts and bank.
Telkom is not a safe option for these reasons.
In addition their service is shocking. Getting them to open ***** cases is impossible.
My phones were with digital forensics and I did not have my Sims to top up. One of my numbers became inactive, I phoned the call centre they said it was inactive and I could retrieve it, but I had to go in-store. I went to WoodMead on the 26/08/24 and asked for it to be re - issued, Niall said it could have been done by the call centre agent and it would take 48 hours . Ii received a message on the evening of the 26th I went to the Mall of Africa store to enquire about which query had been resolved but was told Busi wasn't there and there were no notes on the system.
I phoned the call centre last night and Siphesihle said the number had been re-issued and was put on hold to speak to a manager which never happened because managers don't work at night. I then phoned again and Okule said the number was in-active and he said the manager would call me the next day, by 14:00 it hadn't happened. He also told me I had requested that the number be made inactive, which I never did, she refused to accept responsibility or tell me how that was even possible. The assistants and managers don't know what's going on and each tells a different story.
Also my business number was swapped to personal and my personal to business and then was de-activated.
I then phoned this afternoon and spoke to a manager Nomandla, she said the number was re issued to someone else on the 31 August and was no longer available, I asked how that was possible if it was re issued to myself on the 26th August. This number was linked to a bank account. The manager failed to understand me and I had to explain many times.
I had tried to retrieve one of my previous numbers from years ago because I heard it was in-active and Nomandla said I had lost ownership of the number and she wasn't speaking to me anymore then put the phone down. But the number has been in active for 11 months and newer number was only inactive for 3 months.
Once in Telkom at Woodmead over a year ago an assistant was so rude and unhelpful that I asked for her name, she refused to give me her name so I took a photo of her, she called security for breach of popi, i said i wouldn't delete her photo since it was public i just couldnt publish her photo which i had no intention of doing, but was using it for evidence. her manager finally told me her name, but this mistreatment has been going on forever.
They offered no help with regards to hacking and said I watched too much TV
The call centre agents are rude and unhelpful.
