Staff tries to **** me with a terrible laptop. When I say no they bill me R12000

I have 2 phones (one for me and another for my wife) and a LTE router on contract from Telkom, their signal isn't the greatest but their contracts are cheap

Last month I was interested in purchasing a laptop for my wife and was shopping around. Telkom had a decent deal so I headed into the nearest branch. It took ages to get into the store but that's not really their fault as they are understaffed due to COVID-19

Once in the store I showed them the deal online and they presented me with a laptop which I noticed was not the same. They told me that they did not have stock of the laptop I had seen but they have another laptop that is just as good at the same price. I asked them for specifications which they couldn't give me so I asked them for the model of the laptop and looked it up online - it seemed quite good

Fortunately for me I only signed the document regarding what they had explained to me but had not signed any contract before they showed me the laptop itself. The specs were abysmal (eg. 1GHz clock speed on the processor) so I immediately told them this was not what they had offered me. They asked if I would take it. I said no

I spent the next 10 minutes waiting for them to process whatever they had to do to cancel the sale while listening to the staff member in question ridicule and belittle me to other customers. The second she told me that I could leave I was out of there

I was quite upset by how the staff treated me and was concerned that they had knowingly tried to **** me but I thought the whole matter was behind me and didn't want to think about it more. Imagine my surprise when my monthly statement had an extra TWELVE THOUSAND RAND (My normal statement is between R600 and R700 for comparison)

The staff has **** and stated that I checked the laptop out and is now trying to exact revenge on me for not falling for their **** with bogus contract termination fees on a contract I never signed

I have had other issues with Telkom but they pale in comparison to this disgusting behaviour so I won't water down this review with minor quibbling
