I opened a telkom mobile contract on the 10th of November. I got the Galaxy Note 20 ultra. I found nothing wrong with the phone. I really love everything about the phone so as you can figure I took special care of this device. Haven't dropped it ever. Well fast forward to the 31st of December in playing real racing 3. My battery was almost fully charged and with no warning whatsoever my phone shuts down. My device wasn't even hot. I thought it might be the battery and I charged the phone tried switching it on butall it did was make the vibration noise. I then proceeded to do a soft reset and then a hard reset to no avail. My phones screen remained black. I then took myu phone back to telkom mobile and was told that it was festive season their technitians werent in i would have a better chance of taking the device to samsung at canal walk. When i got to samsung the same thing their technicians were not available cos of festive season i should take it to wefix. I booked it in at wefix after telling the technicianthat my phone just went dead and it wouldnt start up he took my device to the back of the store then he came out telling ,mme thati will have to payfor the damages becaus he "could see'" that ive droped the device coause a little of the paint was missing. Which idsnt true paint can fade with sweaty hands aswell. I left the phone in their care and was sent a quote of over R7000, despite there being no evidence of any damage to the device. After not responding to them for a couple of days, I was mail with an offer of a 15%discount.
I collected my device from them, paying their R179 assesment fee. I then took it to Telkom Mobile Cavendish wo assured me that the device is still under warranty and I would not hav to pay a cent.
Now, this may jusy be me but there seems to be a HUGE discrepency between what WeFix and Telkom Mobile quoted . In fact WeFix also claimed that my device was not in the warranty period and rated my phome condition as 3/5 while Telkom marked the apperance of the device as GOOD, even noting that the plastic screen protector was still in place.
Since the 31st of December I have been without a device, with neither WeFix, Samsun or Telkom ffering m replacement device. Afterall this is a top of the range Samsung Note 20 Ultra worth almost R30,000.
