Sim card reactivation/swap

I use two different numbers with Telkom, my device was ****** last year and I decided to get a new phone and use my other number in the meantime, the issue now is that Telkom did not inform me that if I don't use a simcard within 3 months, they automatically recycle it and give it to someone else. That is very risky because I still have apps that require OTP or two step verification using the number that Telkom decided to recycle, bare n mind the Sim card has been under my name for a very long time. So why would Telkom do something like this? Because I cannot access some very important information that is linked to that Sim card. Telkom needs to fix this urgently
