Signing up for a Telkom service gives them Carte Blanch on your bank accounts. Be warned!

<p>About 3 weeks ago I started seeing debit orders going off my bank account. Some debt collecting company using a Telkom reference number. each time I instruct my bank to reverse the debit suspecting frudulant activity.</p> <p> </p> <p>Yes I have a Telkom landline which I pay monthly via EFT. The account is in a credit of 1c. So very confused as to why a debt collecting company is trying to deduct random amounts from my bank account. I then get the debit order details from the bank and phone the company. They inform me that Telkom has instructed them to recover a certain outstanding amount from me. Apparently the fine print in all Telkom agreements gives them the right to instruct a 3rd party company to load a debit order on your bank account and simply deduct money from it. Incredible right?</p> <p> </p> <p>Now I sit here unable to find a contact number to sort this out. All searches guide me to the on-line customer portal which only has my landline details which is not helpful. So very frustrating.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p>
