Shocking Service

On the 26 August 2016 I went into the Mall of Africa Telkom Branch to purchase 2 x Contracts, namely a Huawei P9 Lite on a Telkom Simple 50 plan for R239-00 ea. I was told that all I would pay would be R239 x 2 as there are 2 phones and I would receive 50min free and 500mb Data per month. I would also not pay for anything extra and that the calls out of the 50min would cost .65c per minute. On top of that both our MTN numbers would be ported with 24-48 hours. My debit date was the end of the month and I was told that at the end of September I would pay the balance of August pro rata (4days) and the month of September which would be roughly R500-00.

Firstly on the 31st of August I went into the Greenstone Telkom store to enquire about why my numbers had not been ported only to be told that they had been ported successfully and that I should contact MTN. After a visit to MTN I was told that the problem lies with Telkom as they incorrectly said that my prepaid numbers had been captured as contract so they rejected the porting and Telkom must sort it out.

Each day since the 31st I have been calling Telkom only to be told that back office will assist me and that I should wait and STILL NO PORTING 10 days later.

On top of that I have just received my first account for R954-00!!!! , they have just informed me that they do no pro rata the handset so even though I purchased it on the 26th of August I am being charged for the WHOLE of August and the 2 or 3 calls that I made have also been charged at R1-50 a minute instead of the promised R.60c so more lies and nonsense that was never explained to me initially.

And there’s more as they suggested that I should buy a screen protector for the p9 lite so I purchased 2 of them only to find out that none of the screen protector’s work on the p9 as it comes with one and it shouldn’t be changed as it will not fit properly. This was known to the Telkom staff as I was shown an email by one of the staff only a few days later and obviously nobody had read it and even the Huawei rep knew nothing of this so again I wasted over R400-00 on screen guards and not to mention all the driving around trying to sort that out.

I am truly disgusted in Telkom’s lack of service and I was warned about them but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and now I truly regret it and will be warning everyone I possibly can about this company.

Reviewer Update

So here we are 2 weeks later and all I get from Telkom is a Mail saying they will investigate and an sms saying I will still be double debited as there is no pro rata only a ******* where one pays a full months premium for a handset you have had for 4 days and R1-50 call rates instead of the promised 69C AND STILL MY NUMBERS HAVE NOT BEEN PORTED AND ALL I GET FROM THEM IS THAT THEY WERE REJECTED BY MTN AS THE SIM CARDS ARE LISTED AS CONTACT INSTEAD OF PREPAID, HOW IS THIS MY PROBLEM AND WHY DOES SUCH A MINOR DETAIL TAKE 2 WEEKS AND STILL NOBODY HAS AN ANSWER ?????
