2 weeks ago my area experienced a bad storm that lasted almost an hour and as a result my landline stopped working. That is a norm and not totally unexpected nor do i blame telkom for that but its after that on how they handle or handling it is where I have a problem.:

I was told via sms the following:

Telkom is aware of a cable related fault on your line. We are investigating all available options to restore your service. Your reference number is 3BNK230117.

Now that I would beleive but the curious thing is that only 2 houses are affected and even more curious is the fact that my ADSL (same line) is working so well that to date this moth I have downloaded over 50GB. I find it a bit strange that the line/cable could be faulty and still receive DSL.

Could this be a standard line Telkom uses to all of their customers problems?
