Shocked at being double charged

<p>I hate contracts for a reason. I signed up for a Telkom contract on the 28th December and the consultant told me about pro rata charges, which i expected, but i wasn't expecting them to be much since i got the phone on the 28th of the month. Shock of my life when i get my bill and it's almost double what the advertised amount was, the reason for this was because i was charged for the device from 1 December not the 28th. I am not a contract person, i don't do contract phones, haven't done so in forever because of bad experience of being double debited for no reason. So i was expected to know that they would charge me for the device i got 4 days before the month ended. I call the consultant, who i previously thought was a star for signing me up so quick and efficiently, and she says she told me there was pro rata and that i signed? what is pro rata? it it me who doesn't understand what pro rata means or her? and that they cant break a phone in half/pieces, her words, to me the customer. Anyway, i regret this purchase.</p>
