Severely disappointed in Telkom

I have had an adsl line with Telkom for many years. I have moved a few times and always moved my line with me. I have always been one of the biggest fans of Telkom as I have had very few issues and always had pretty good service. This time, however, has been very different......

I put in a request to have my line to be moved on 18th January. On 21st January I got an sms from Telkom to say my line move has been booked for 9th Feb. Had no further communication from Telkom and eventually phoned them on the afternoon of the 9th.

The first question I got asked was - who told me my line was being moved on the 9th. I still have the sms so that was the first clue that maybe nothing has actually happened. Then after holding on while the operator checked with the technical deaprtment, I got told that somebody was out on the 6th. After assuring them that somebody was home ALL day, I then got told that they only went to the exchange and then found a cable fault there.

In all my years of dealing with Telkom I have always been impressed with the fact that they keep you updated on your call, but I have had absolutely no communication from them regarding having been out or that there was a cable fault.....my second clue that I was just getting given some excuse......

Telkom's elusive cabling department seems to be a department that is not held to any time-lines at all. The cable fault was apparently found on 6th Feb and yet still nobody can even give me a hint as to how long this is going to take to fix. Seeing as a large part of Telkom's service has got to be about cabling I would have thought they could at least give an estimate.

So right now I have no clue if there actually is a fault and if or when anything is going to be done about it. My son works form home and I also have some business that I need to attend to at home and everything is on hold now......with no end in sight.

My order number is ********** 66

So more than a day has passed since receiving the above response but I have still had absolutely no other communication at all from Telkom, so it looks like the above is an automated response and nobody actually even looks at it. So much for providing feedback.
