Service or, to be honest, the complete lack of

On the 30th of January my Telkom landline and adsl went donw.

When I phoned in the fault I was told that it was routine maintenance.

By Wednesday I phoned again, given the same result. I asked for a fault number but was told I could not get one as it was routine maintenance.

By Saturday I phoned again as the line was still down. This time I was told that the maintenance finished on Monday and why hadnt I phoned in the fault?!

Since then I have been recieveing messages from Telkom by SMS and on Twitter saying that the fault is in hand.

In fact I was even phoned to say that they would be at my house before 10am on Monday 13th of Feb. Their version of 10am is very different to mine considering no one has arrived yet.

My favourite is I was asked if I could reset the line over twitter. My first question is how do I reset a landline? and secondly had tehy phoned the line to see if it works?

It has now been 18 days since the line went down and my worry is that if the techs have my fault in hand then surely the only thing they are sitting with in their hand is the thing they are playing with. I would like them to put whatever they have in hand down and fix the line.

At this stage it would probably take me less time to use the defunct South African Post Office to send a letter than to send an email through Telkom.

It takes less time to get to the moon (Apollo 11 did their entire mission in two weeks) than Telkom takes to fix a fault.

At this point I am starting to understand why people no longer use landlines, and when fibre comes people will stop using telkom altogether.

Hello Telkom team
Although I constantly recieve feedback messages there is still nothing actionable from your side?!
I get a response to say I can pick up a Sim card which I dont have a wifi device at home that will take the SIM card. Perhaps next time send me a steering wheel, it would perhaps be as useful and relevant.
Honestly this is world leading ********** service.
The olympics starts and finishes in less days than it has taken you to repair a "routine maintenance" catastrophe.
If I could rate your organisation as a less than one star rating I would.
Deeply dissapointed
