Same old lack of responsibility from Telkom!

Our Telkom line was damaged almost 2 weeks ago (Aug 5th, 2018) due to a house fire in our area: not our house. The actual line has since been replaced on Tuesday, Aug 14th, however the line is still down. I’ve been speaking to the customer care people, as well as one of their supervisors since yesterday, Aug 16th. Firstly, the fault wasn’t escalated yesterday like I asked, it was only done today. Currently, right now as I’m typing this, I’m holding the line while speaking to Anele at the escalation department in Port Elizabeth, but no one can give me an answer when the line will be repaired. Apparently the Telkom technicians have to order a part to get the new line connected again (how the hell could they wait till now to order the part if they knew it will have to be installed…?).

I am not accepting anything else than an answer that will result in my line being repaired TODAY. I am absolutely sick and tired of Telkom’s “we don’t care” attitude towards their customers, and this has gone on far too long. All the houses in this whole block running from that pole and line’s phones are not working, so my question is: what if there’s an emergency at one of the houses, ie. Another house fire, burglary, someone’s life in danger, and none of us are able to phone for assistance from the SAPS or emergency services, who will take responsibility for any loss of property or loss of life…? Telkom needs to start thinking about their customers’ needs more and less of the large salaries that we, the customers, pay them.
