Ridiculous charges

I have missed a direct debit with telkom as i am on maternity leave.. I have contacted the call centre and they have advised that they will not be debitting again however i need to pay instore which was fine only to receive a statement requesting for over R200 charge which is ridiculous. This was never mentioned in any contract and if so i would have rather cancelled the debit order and paid instore.
