Response to Sipho Maseko Open letter to The President

I am writing an open letter to Sipho Maseko, CEO of Telkom in response to his open letter to the president. Unfortunately I cannot afford to place a full page advert in a national newspaper.

Mr Sipho Maseko, please first sweep in front your own door. If you are serious about your letter to the president, then please be serious about the complaints and advice from your consumers. Please do not just brush us off as a nuisance. If you are serious about the state of the economy, then you will ensure that Telkom does not have a big hand in all the issues that are taking the economy down. If you are really serious you will ensure that Telkom enables businesses in the previously disadvantage areas. However, we the small businesses in the previously disadvantage areas view your open letter with dismay and it leaves a bitter taste in our mouths. In fact Telkom is the company that disenfranchises small businesses. By this I mean that in the previously disadvantage areas they refuse to reconnect businesses and households which depend on Telkom connectivity. Telkom flatly refuses to reinstall ****** cables and they refuse to install an alternative such as fibre which has no value and is unlikely to be ******. This short-sighted stance is the cause of many businesses in our areas suffering economically and many may eventually close their doors and thereby putting countless people out of jobs and so create more poverty resulting in more children going hungry.

Mr Maseko, please note that it is ********* that are *****ing Telkom copper cables, so why are you punishing us? Furthermore, Mr Maseko there are technologies currently being used by other companies that secure copper cables and any tampering triggers an alarm resulting in rapid response to prevent cable theft. Yet Telkom has not done anything to secure their cabling. So because of your inability to safeguard your cables you are now shrugging off your mandate to provide reasonable service to our communities. So instead of advising the president, take a walk through your company and reinvigorate your staff to fulfil their mandate to serve the people of South Africa.

Mr Maseko, small businesses make a serious dent in the unemployment pool, however, the question begs to be answered, is Telkom serious and more importantly are you serious?

I am trying to get this open letter to the President to consider with your open letter. Maybe, just maybe we will get some response from you which is a long shot in the dark.
