I recently took out a new contract for a mobile phone, I discover 2 days later that the battery is faulty. Telkom was made aware of this because it was within the 7 day period. I was told it needs to be checked by a technician at Telkom Direct which I did and was advised that it needs to be replaced, I then called the store back to inform them what the technician has advised me. I was then told that the phone needs to be booked in and that it will take about 3 weeks before it gets to a technician, only there after will it be checked which could take another few weeks. I then asked for a replacement handset because if I have to book it in, that means that I will be paying for a phone that isn't in my possession as well as not having a number for people to contact me on due to the sim not being able to fit in another phone. Why give a customer a 7 day period in which to say that you are not happy with the product or that it is faulty when you need to wait for so long to get an answer as to when you will be able to receive a new one. And offering me a loan phone is not what im paying for to compensate for the assessment.
