Repeated Incompetence on the part of Telkom Mobile

1. I have a free me 1 GB contract. Part of that package is social media data, for things like Whatsapp etc. Last month and this month once my 1 GB of data has run out suddenly my social media doesn't work (assuming it actually did). I phoned Telkom Mobile last month and logged a query. Nothing was done. This month the same thing happens and I phone again, enquire after my previous query, am told that it was apparently logged in the wrong queue so nothing has been done, and I log another query. Yesterday I get a message telling me my query has been resolved. Upon testing it's quite clear that absolutely nothing has changed. Thanks Telkom Mobile.

2. I have a 10 GB LTE contract. When I originally contacted Telkom Mobile to take the contract out via their website asked that the debit order date be on the 1st day of the month. After a week or so of receiving no response I contacted Telkom Mobile and eventually somebody phoned me to take my details for the contract and I again iterated that the debit order day should be on the first day of the month. I was told to that it was on the last day of the month and should be okay. On the 25th of this month a debit order for Telkom Mobile came through and was rejected due to insufficient funds. I phoned Telkom Mobile that evening and was told that the debit order date has always been the 25th of the month for this contract. I changed it with the agent on the phone. I was told that I had 24 working hours to pay the failed debit order or else Telkom would take an extra amount of 200.94 on top of the debit order. I was paid on Monday the 29th and immediately paid the outstanding amount, using the reference number I was given via SMS by the agent I dealt with. This morning Telkom Mobile debited my account for the original debit order as well as the 200.94 on top of it.

I prefer Telkom Mobile over all the other mobile service providers in this country, having dealt with all of them at some point or another. However your continued and extreme incompetence and inability to provide services as promised is slowly but surely driving me away.

It is such that I’m actually quite surprised when something actually works.

From products advertised on your website that you actually don’t have, to promised services not materializing, to taking money that is not yours to take, my list of grievances just gets longer and longer.

Your call center agents are generally quite good at their jobs but they are backed up by systems that just don’t work.

Give me back my money and give me my social media data.

I've just checked my bank account statement and it turns out that ABSA has billed me an extra R150 for the debit order that Telkom submitted on the incorrect date which consequntley didn't go off. I expect to be reimbursed for that on top of the amount that I'm already owed by Telkom.

Thanks.

Hi,

It's been almost a month and no feedback has been communicated? I'm not necessarily surprised but could someone please let me know what's going on? Your customer service is atrociously bad. It's ridiculous.

Hi. The amount that was erroneously debited from my account has been returned to me by way of a reduced charge on my bill over the last two months (or that's what I assume. Nobody has actually let me know anything). However there is still the matter of the R150 that ABSA charged me when Telkom debited my account on the incorrect date. I've just received an SMS stating that case no ********** 0 is resolved, which based on the timelines, I assume is the case pertaining to my previous request that I be reimbursed for the money that ABSA charged me. Since I haven't received the money or any communication in this regard I don't see how it can be resolved? Telkom, for a company that provides a communications service, communicating with your clients is definitely not your strong point.
