R500 added to my billing without my consent

I just received my bill and noticed that instead of R239 that I always pay, that my bill was R386.

The extra billing has been going on for a few months now but I always over looked it because it was usually small amount I chose to think of as some kind of service fee or something like that.

But the R386 was was too high to ignore. So i called the call centre and enquired.
upon enquiry i found out that telkom is now sending promotional SMS's that subscribe you to new services or products they offer without your consent.

How it works is, instead of replying 'Yes' to opt in to a service.
They are now asking you to reply 'No' so that you are not charged extra.

How is this legal?
I am appalled by this, and feel ****** of every cent I have payed extra in the past 4 months.

I would like this extra service cancelled, as I did not ask to be given an extra R500 worth of benefits onto my account. I took a contract I could afford at R239 pm.

Telkom has taken advantage of the debit order they have set up with my bank account.
Had I used up the entire R500 they added, my bill would be R739.
& thats over 3 times my original contract.

Can someone from telkom tell me how we can resolve this
