R 800 cancellation fee without a signed contract.

Good day.

I need to cancel my LTE contract. We went to a Telkom store to do so and we were told we had to pay R 800 to cancel the account. Yeah, I did not agree to that. I signed up for a two year 8ta contract years ago when it first came out and then continued using the service until someone phoned me over a year and a half ago and offered me a LTE router. It was all done over the phone and I never signed or agreed to pay a R 800 cancellation fee. I will gladly give you your router back. Not sure how you can even ask for a cancellation fee without a signed contract. Please could you assist me. Thanks.
