Quote rejection fee payable for unrelated problem
I've handed in my Samsung S3 Mini to be repaired at the Telkom Direct Shop, College Square, Bloemfontein on 2 March 2015. The problem was the phone getting hot and the battery running down incredibly fast. When I handed in the phone, it had a hairline crack in the glass. Telkom accepted the phone anyway. Today I've received feedback that the problem is most probably a faulty mainboard, but that they are not willing to work on the phone without replacing the LCD screen. A rejection fee of R188 is payable should I not accept the quote, which is in the region of R1200. If Telkom knew that the repair center would be unwilling to work on the device due to the cracked screen, which I was aware of, and they knew about when I handed in the phone, they should have informed me before accepting it. To tell me now that I have to pay a rejection fee before I can have my phone back, unfixed, is unacceptable.
