🚨 PUBLIC WARNING: Telkom & Vumatel Disconnect Paid-Up Customer 16 Days BEFORE Due Date! 🚨
🚨 PUBLIC WARNING: Telkom & Vumatel Disconnect Paid-Up Customer 16 Days BEFORE Due Date! 🚨
This post is directed at your executive teams. It is a public warning about the ********, *********, and reckless billing practices of your joint venture.
On 20 October, you cut off my fibre line, claiming my account was in arrears. When I called, your agent calmly informed me that this was "standard and automatic."
Let me outline the indisputable, documented facts of your "standard" process:
· 12 October: Telkom issues a statement for R 1,565.63. Your own document explicitly states: "To Avoid Service Disruption - Pay By 05 Nov 2026." · 19 October: I pay R 1,600.00 (more than the amount due) via Capitec. I used your exact EFT reference (***). · 20 October: Telkom/Vumatel cuts my line. · Your Due Date: 05 November.
Why this is *********:
· Punishing paying customers: I paid early. I paid more than required. Your system ignored this and cut me off anyway. · Deceptive tactics: Your agent validated an automated error by calling it "standard." This is a blatant attempt to avoid accountability. If your system cuts off paid-up clients before the due date, your system is broken. · Zero communication: No warning, no SMS, no verification. Just a sudden cut to an essential service while holding my money.
Why this is RECKLESS:
· ******* Suspension: You have no legal right to suspend a service for arrears before the due date, let alone after receiving a payment. · Systemic Incompetence: If your "automatic" systems are cutting off customers randomly, every Telkom and Vumatel client in South Africa is at risk. · Reputational Suicide: Vumatel, you are complicit. You are the infrastructure partner. How can you allow Telkom to maliciously disconnect paid-up clients on your network?
MY DEMANDS:
1. Immediate reconnection with zero reconnection fees. 2. Written assurance that no adverse credit listing, blacklisting, or collection action will be initiated against my name or this account. 3. An executive-level explanation for why your system cannot read its own due dates or process Capitec payments bearing in mind the 16 day allowance. 4. A formal written apology from a senior manager. Telkom and Vumatel, I have escalated this to the National Consumer Commission (NCC) and ICASA. I will not be bullied by your automated systems or your dismissive call center agents.
I am a professional who works hard, and I expect the basic courtesy of not having my essential services weaponized against me by a corporate monopoly.
To the public: Check your Telkom accounts carefully. If they are doing this to a paid-up customer, they will do it to you. In addition there are plenty of other service providers waiting to respect new clients.
