Providing false promises to get you to upgrade

Beware of Telkom's false marketing tactics. I received an email saying: "...you now have the opportunity to upgrade to a higher data plan, without any cancellation fees, device fees or change in your contract period." Someone from telkom phoned me and confirmed this information as correct and I went ahead with the upgrade, just to find out afterwards that you have to pay for a new device without receiving it and pay an extra R50 pm for the old device that you currently use. I made double sure about the terms and conditions before upgrading but that wasn't enough, I think with Telkom you have to make triple or even quadruple sure about what you have to pay before agreeing any contract with telkom. Don't believe anything Telkom promises on the phone or even in their emails, this is just there to get you to agree to a contract, after that you don't have any rights. They say that all their calls are recorded, I told them to listen to the recording but apparently this recordings is just accessible if they have a problem with you, when you have a problem with them then you can write a review on hellopeter as long as you pay your monthly subscription as per the agreement and the extra charges that they throw at you.
