Pre-Charges for Internation Roaming

I have been a customer for a few months now. I frequently travel outside the country now have no other mobile numbers for Roaming but my contract with Telkom mobile. The process is applying for international roaming and an upfront fee of R2000. So far no explanation of what this deposit does or covers or will be returned. With other network I would just sms or call on the day or 2 before trip, now I need to give in a week's notice with and with my travels coming up sometimes with 3 days notice, I am not sure then this could ever work.

Can you help me understand if there is a quicker way to process this?
Will I get my deposit back, what if I travel 4 times a month?
Can you just use my limit I set on the account to cut off services if exceeded?

This get very frustrating, when time is spent filling out and faxing/emailing forms
