Possible Black Friday **** from Telkom
I decided to take a contract from Telkom on their Black Friday Weekend via their online portal. I had a call from their sales person and everything was approved and they debited my account for the first month. A few days later they sent an SMS stating that my order was with CourierIt and it will be delivered. I waited the few days and I did not receive the phone. I called CourierIt and they said that they were not given a parcel from Telkom. I called Telkom and I was told that they don't have stock of the Samsung A8 but they will send it as soon as the stock arrives. I agreed to wait.
The next day, I received several calls from someone at Telkom and when I finally managed to answer, I was told by a lady called Shivani that there is not stock of the A8 but they can provide me with the Samsung A6+. I asked her to let me think about it and she agreed to call me the next morning.
The next morning, I did not get a call from her so I called the call centre and another lady said that she will put a flash message that I will wait for the A8 and that I do not want the A6+. Shivani then called me and I told her the same and she said that the A8 is no longer available. I told her that the other lady did not say that and she said she will call me back. She called a few minutes later and she said that her manager told her that there is no longer A8's and that they will not be bringing that phone in (even though it is still on their website at full price). I told her that I want the A8 as per the advert and that I don't want to be ****med to be taking a cheaper phone. She said that if I don't take the A6+ then I am not getting anything. I told her then cancel the contract and give me my money back. She said it can take up to 21 days to get a refund and if I don't get the refund then I must phone the accounts department. They took the money instantly but cannot return it.
I called the call center after the call an another lady said that they are still providing the A8's but I must just wait for the stock to arrive and she said that the order was not cancelled. The next morning, I received an SMS providing me with a case number. I called Telkom and the lady said that the case number refers to the cancellation. I asked her about the A8 and she said that they were not given any communication that it is no longer available. She said that i should speak to a manager to check that and to have the order reinstated. She sent a message for a manager to contact me and no one called.
I called later in the afternoon and the person that I spoke to could not pass the phone to their manager because the manager was on a call and it was shift change (+-4pm). He took my details and said that the manager will call me in the morning. Up to now I have had no communication from anyone at Telkom. I am under the impression that the A8 cell phone was just a trick to get customers to sign up. It is then up to the specific sales staff like Shivani to get the customer to take the cheaper alternative or cancel the deal. This totally seems like a **** to get new subscribers.
