Porting Nightmare
on the 17th of October 2019 i ported my number from MTN to Telkom, and apparently according to MTN they released the number on the same day at 11:10 to Telkom. Telkom only activated the number from their end on the 22 of October after i called them numerous times enquiring about the staus of my porting request. On the 22 of October i received 1 call and after that i have been unable to receive calls from my cell number. I noitified Telkom about my problem and was given first two codes to deactivate call barring ##002#, #330*0000# without success. A case was logged for my problem Case No. ********** 51 and after calling numerous times was told that this case has been closed as resolved, even though i still could not receive calls. After a week i was again assigned a new Case number ********** 8 and was told it waas going to be escallated with their porting department. i would calll Telkom daily and would be told to again wait for 72 hours. these 72 hours ended up becoming 2 weeks as everytime i would call, i would be attended by a different call center agent, who will try to resolve the matter the best way they know how, telling they can't call their porting department or send them an email. i was even adised to do a sim swop which i was told might resolve the problem, this i did and i still could not receive calls. after the 3rd week of my nightmare, i was given a new case number after the second one was cloded again, this one was ********** 7, again after calling the call center checking on the status of my new case, its now a month and still i can not receive call. what makes this matter worse is the fact that i've had this number for more than 15 years. i went to MTN to try and see if i can not port back my number to them, was told that it must be with Telkom for 3 months minimum before i can port it back to MTN. now i am siiting with a number that can not receive calls for more than a month and Telkom is unable to assist me.
