Poor service from Telkom Mobile

Tiime, date and place of incident. 14:10 Friday 15th February 2019 Telkom Mobile Paarl Mall

Hi...

I recently went to a Telkom Mobile store to request a multiple sim card. I was told very rudely by a Telkom Mobile employee, Dwaine, that he already had a big argument the day before with a customer about the same issue and didn't want to get into a repeated argument. He said that if I don't have proof of address he cannot and will not help me. I told Dwaine that I could email him my proof of address which he could print and use but he refused and shouted at me that I need to show him a physical proof of address. I was very disappointed with his attitude and lack of customer service s****s. I then left the shop without being assisted.

I called the customer care after that and they also confirmed that it is policy to have identification and proof of address. I am an existing customer. I don't see a need to produce a proof of address all over again. The call centre agent said that a bank statement would suffice. I'm from Durban and on holiday here in Cape Town I don't have time to stand in long ques at banks or atm's on a Friday afternoon.

Moving forward I think Dwaine needs to go for customer service training before he pushes away further business. I also think that Telkom Mobile needs to change their proof of residence policy for current or existing customers. My contract will be expiring soon and due to the appalling service I received from you guys. I will not be renewing my contract. I have been a loyal and long term customer with you guys and I always try and promote Telkom Mobile to my friends and family but after this incident that's definitely going to change and I will be taking my business elsewhere. I am sure the previous customer that Dwaine had an argument with as well will also be looking to follow suit.

Last word. The best customer is the one that complains and makes you aware of the problems so you can fix them. The worse customer is the one that does not say anything and just leaves and takes his business elsewhere.

Regards

Lynash
