Poor service from telkom

I got ****** and I lost my phone, I tried telkom via telephone for a sim swap but they said I need to visit their store or send someone with my ID copy and proof of residence. I sent someone but they were sent back without any help. I am staying 300km approximately away from the nearest telkom shop. Do I need to travel that distance for a sim swap?
