Poor service for a simple sim swap
I had the worst possible experience with Telkom when I wanted to do a sim swap after losing my phone. I went to the nearest branch at the time which was in Ballito, KZN whereby I provided all the required documentation to process a sim swap. After some time, the consultant advised me that there was an error in the system that needed IT's intervention. A call was logged and I notified that my incident would be resolved within 72 hours or even earlier as it is a minor issue that needs to be resolved in their system. 72 hours later, after numerous follow-up's; the issue was still not resolved and now no clear indication of when this would be resolved was provided. I went to another branch in Clearwater and still no headway. I called the contact centre and was advised to go to another branch & request them to restart the process of trying to sim swap. I then proceeded to go to another branch in Cresta, (assisted by a very helpful consultant) who then advised their system is indicating the same issue and logged another incident with IT. I was advised that this should be resolved quickly & so when I followed up the next day; there was still no indication of when this issue would be resolved by IT. On the 5th day, after numerous follow-up's I decided to drive to Telkom's head-office myself in Centurion for some assistance. It took another day of waiting and only 6 days later was Telkom able to process my sim swap request. I am extremely disappointed at the service & inconvenience this caused me. The number in question is my main number and I literally could not even do a simple banking transaction because of the number being inactive. I honestly want nothing to do with Telkom ever again & will certainly not advise anyone close to me to support this SP.
