Poor Service and False Infomration

Recently I decided to take Telkom up on a great offer - an ADSL Line (4mbs) with a free router for only R599.99 pm. The offer was valid until the 31st of March. Right off the bat, there were numerous issues:

- I placed my order via email. Despite recieving confirmation that I would be contacted within 48 hours, I had to place numerous calls to Telkon (10213) before someone followed up on my order. After providing my details, I entered into the contract for the ADSL, after being assured by the consultant that I was eligible for the product. I was not provided with a reference number for this call.

- When no one contacted me again, I followed up again with Telkom (10213) only to be told that my contract had not been logged and no installation was pending. I had to recapture my details again although admittedly this time I recieved a reference number (Telkom installation # ********** 23A). I was told to await a call from an installation team to arrange a date for my product.

- Today I was contacted by the Telkom Installation Team (+ ********** 14858) only to be told that I was not eligible for the ADSL line after all. The consultant (Philemon) attempted to arrange the installation of a wireless phone which I have refused. I gave instructions to cancel my order.

My issue with all of the above is not the fact that - according to the technicians - I am not eligible for the product. I have a problem with the fact that I was told by Telkom that I was eligible for the product after the consultant apparently checked my coverage. This is blatant lying in order to procure a contract! If there has been some mistake, I urge Telkom to get in touch with me directly.

However, as it stands I did not agree to a wireless product but an ADSL product. I entered into a verbal contract not for an wireless product but an ADSL product, which Telkom can apparently no longer provide. As it stands, unless Telkom contacts me with an alternative solution from a person that can actually check a coverage map and provide reliable information, I am no longer interested in pursuing business with Telkom.
