Poor Service: ADSL Availability and Cancellation, continued billing
On 11 January, 2018, I contacted the Telkom Cancellaitons Call Centre requesting that my ADSL/Telkom Voice services be terminated as the service was constantly unavailable due to general faults in my area. At that point I had been 4 weeks without service. It took almost two months to get the line installed and working initially.
I received a cancellations form, which I completed and returned the same day. A day or two later, I received a call from Telkom advising my request had been received and processed, and that my last day of service would be 30 days from the day I submitted the request.
I have since been billed again by Telkom, despite querying an invoice dated 3 March (rep**** to same cancellation line) indicating my services were meant to be terminated on 10 February. I should have received a credit note at that point already.
This is not the first time this has happened to me, and I have a colleague who had the exact same experience (which took months to resolve). Added to that, I was never credited for the continued service disruptions, although when on hold waiting for the call centre when reporting such faults one is told credits will be passed for service unavailability HOWEVER you need to call the call centre after the fault is resolved and log another ticket. (sometimes it takes days to get through as the call waiting periods are just too long).
In short, never sign up with Telkom directly as a service provider, and if you are forced to, go through in intermediary (another ISP) as they at least get priority on calls logged on behalf of their customers.
