Since November last year, my line has deteriorated from 10mbps to 8 to 7 to 6 and is now sitting at 5mbps.

Various technicians came out and one found a condition on the line. Because of rain, he couldn't fix the problem then. After that, more technicians came but most are pretty clueless as to find the fault. One tech disconnected the line and ran back to the office with tail between his legs because he couldn't find the problem. One tech from telkom came on a Sunday afternoon when we were not there and promptly signed the job off as completed.

This seems pretty good evidence to me of gross incompetence. My line ran perfect at 10mbps.

Telkom and Afrihost is full of bull**** excuses.

My line drops constantly and cannot maintain 5mbps sync.

Afrihost says that I must downgrade the line to 4megs.

What kind of solution is THAT!!!!

if Assia is working well, then it means that there is another problem.

Fix this problem or give my money back because paying for such a bad product is not good business

HI Lionv
Thank you for making contact with us and bringing this to our attention.
This response serves as confirmation that your query has been received and attended. We have interrogated the line and the test results indicate that the loop-length to the exchange is in fact 6.17KM which exceeds the threshold for a 4 MEG service and is not suitable for any speed above 4MEG due to attenuation and noise produced. Please refer to your ADSL provider as the best course of action would be to downgrade to perhaps 4MEG. We do not find any plans in place to upgrade the exchange equipment in your area for this financial year. We do apologise for any inconvenience.

Best regards,
My line WAS running at 10mbps for a long time. How is it possible that it is only a 4mbps line??? You are the third person telling me to downgrade to 4mbps. This proves to me that telkom is not capable to maintain their network. Bring back the people that knew what they were doing
